At The Novel Affair, we bring the magic of Blind Date with a Book to celebrations across Connecticut. From weddings and bridal showers to birthdays, book clubs, corporate gatherings, and everything in between, we turn ordinary party favors into unforgettable literary experiences.

Each book is thoughtfully curated, beautifully wrapped, and paired with intriguing clues that invite guests to choose their next great read — without judging a book by its cover!

No titles, no covers, no spoilers. Each wrapped book wears a tag of handwritten clues — genre, tropes, and mood — and guests choose the story that calls to them.

The Novel Affair is booked by the package — a minimum of 20 books, each one the full experience: thoughtfully curated, beautifully wrapped, and packed with bookish stickers, annotation tabs, a highlighter, a reading list card, a tea bag or hot chocolate, ribbon or twine, and its own clue tag.

Package totals always rise with size — ordering more books never costs less in total.

Event services are charged separately. Delivery plus book bar setup & styling — $200 for 20–49 books, $275 for 50–99 books, and $350 for 100+ books, added to your package.

Are the books new or used?

A mix of new and lightly used. Every book is hand-picked for the event and checked before wrapping, so it arrives in gift-worthy condition.

Can guests choose their own book?

Yes — that's the fun of it. Guests browse the clue tags and pick the parcel that intrigues them most.

Can the books match our theme or favorite genres?

Absolutely. The mix is curated to your taste — genres, tropes, and moods — and the wraps are styled to your colors, with ribbon or twine and personalization included.

What does the event services fee cover?

Delivery, set-up, and styling of the book bar or favor display at your venue. The fee is tiered by package size and covers events within 30 miles; travel beyond that is quoted per event.

How far ahead should we book?

At least 3 weeks ahead — 4 to 5 weeks for events with 75 or more books. A 50% deposit reserves your date, and the balance is due 2 weeks before the event.

What if our guest count changes?

Let us know as early as you can. Your final count is confirmed when the balance is due, 2 weeks before the event, and the package is adjusted to match.

What if a guest doesn't love their book?

The clue tags are honest — genre, tropes, and mood are right on the wrap — so guests can trade with a neighbor or pick the parcel that fits their taste.

Do you travel outside Connecticut or ship?

Events are set up in person across Connecticut. Shipping favors out of state is something we're considering — if that's you, choose the out-of-state option in the inquiry form and tell us where.
